There is nothing out there that will fill the emptiness you feel. That emptiness arises from the void that is formed when you abandon yourself.
You believe that a soul mate or dream job or better home will fix this; will complete you. But it won’t. It can’t.
The only thing that can fill your emptiness is to return and re-occupy your own life.
I know that this doesn’t make sense from inside the story of “You need this shiny object” to be happy. But something in you knows that it’s true. That ‘something’ is calling you home now. That ‘something’ is you – the full you, the awakened you.
What you really seek, what will really fill that emptiness is your own power.

I agree entirely with this, and have spent many years in the frantic effort to fill the emptiness with things that don’t remotely do so. That distraction was not only futile, it actually got in the way of realizing what I really needed to do. I’m working on it … not an easy effort, but a big step seems to be understanding this particular distinction. xo
Amy, Beautifully said! The last line is my favorite.
It is so true. Beautiful writing, amazing stories.
